40 Days of Rag on ValleyWag Day #9 – Sublime Racism

By John | March 18, 2008

A good friend of mine would always get upset when someone would misuse the world ironic. For example, he would get furious when someone would say something like, “I saw two car accidents today; isn’t that ironic?” I noticed the rag ran a post today on how they found it amusing, some might say ironic, that there happened to be an ad for Oreo Cookies under a Barack Obama video. Now not to get all “mid-evil” righteous and political, I just don’t see that connection when I watch Barack Obama speak. Silly me, I see a brilliant “man” who may possibly change the world, and I don’t honestly get those kind of quick connections. I guess I am just not as smart as those guys. I’ll admit when I was a kid I told some bad jokes, but I did something really stupid – I grew up. Valleyrag, I knew you guys were sewer mongers, but to find an Obama video with an Oreo cookie ad ironic to me ooozes of sublime racism. Owen did you find that clinical enough?

That’s not sublime racism. It’s overt racism!

    It’s also a joke.

You’re racist for feeling superior over pointing out that I’m racist.

Did you want a mulligan on that comment? I hate it when I write a real stupid comment on someone else’s blog and there is no way to get a do-over. If you want I” let you change it. Also, did you get a chance to vote on the 40rag poll?
