John -- This was a fun listen. BTW, in addition to misspelling James's name, you misspelled the podcast name. It's Overcast, not Outcast :-)

Anyway, thanks for the mention, and keep up the excellent content.

James,

The funny thing is that you are so popular that if you put the spelling of your name wrong in a google search google will come back with "Do You mean?". Now that's impressive. In fact that is typically how I get the correct spelling of your name.

These are questions a lot of AWS user's are asking. I am sure there are far more qualified people are answer this than me; however, an AWS evangelist told me that Amazon uses a lot of tools to search for these kind of things. It's not the best answer. I will ping Chris Sears (A local AWS expert) and try and get his response.

Thanks

Correct spelling of my name above. I don't want to make spelling it any worse than it already is. :)

You give me way too much credit, John, but thank you. I can't wait for the Rightscale/EUCALYPTUS podcast, as I still don't quite understand what the value is there. You'll get to the heart of it with them, though, I'm sure.

One anxiety I have with cloud offerings is the open ended ness of the billing. Say I get a denial of service attack on my site or my site gets hacked and used to do spam emails or whatever am I going to be presented with a whopping great bill at the end of the month. Happened to us when we were at Rackspace when we paid for the bandwidth we used over 100GB. We were presented with a large bill because a server we had already stopped using got hacked and used to send a ton of spam.
