EnterpriseDB AS Cloud Edition Beta Program Targets Key Partners, Cloud Computing Pioneers

EnterpriseDB is the other guy. EnterpriseDB is based on PostgreSQL and has long been considered the other open source database alternative to MySQL. Putting EnterpriseDB on Amazon’s EC2/S3 could make for an interesting mix. Depending on the pricing and reliability, this could be a game changer. If it keeps the prices similar to RedHat’s implementation of S3/EC2, then this will be great offering. We have found, however, that S3 is a little unstable as a back-end data store for EC2 images. It will be interesting to see how its architecture evolves.
