Are Clouds for Real?
By John | April 24, 2008
Duh…
Looks like Benchmark Capital thinks so and they have a pretty good track record. Rightscale announced today they have secured $4.5 million in first round funding from Benchmark Capital. I have been thoroughly impressed with what Rigthscale has done as a provider of “Cloud” services. They build on top of Amazon’s Web Services to provide more functionality than base EC2 and provide a more “Enterprise” look and feel. I believe they and 3Tera are both in a “disruptive” cloud service category with they type of services they provide. I have had a few interviews with the folks over there and they really seem to be on the “Right” track (oooh that’s bad). Although I am not a big fan of VC’s I believe in this case it was absolutely necessary for Rightscale to build and take advantage of their already tremendous momentum.
Congrats to the gang at Rightscale.
