Thanks for interesting podcast! Many of our clients like the cloud application monitoring service Techout (www.techout.com). Techout's monitoring offerings are software as a service, so it's convenient, and they do a great job of notifying you if there's any issue.

Doug,

On your blog you have a few really good ideas that would benefit the current CAMLET and UtilityStatus products with bsm features. I agree it's a logical next step for event management and application management to add additional BSM features i.e. application resource discovery, applicaiton maps and identify/creating infrastructure maps. Also tools such as network auto discovery will help manage applications better. A lot of the BSM benefits mentioned here really help to align IT resources to business objectives.

Thanks for the pointer to your blog and articles. I am sure to stop by more often.

Jason,

I'd like to recommend a couple posts for you and get your feedback. Maybe you can be the first to incorporate some of these thoughts into your product.

Not directly related, but you mentioned SOA in one of your pages.

The idea for Monitoring-as-a-Service(TM) came after joining IBM through the Cyanea acquisition, now ITCAM. Composite Application Management for J2EE deep-dive problem determination and diagnostics.

Here's a link to the redbook http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/SG246764.html

Just my 2cents to help improve cloud applications.

Hello,

I noticed there is a need in the cloud to provide deep-dive monitoring and diagnostics for EC2 and other cloud based applications and utilities.

You can find access to cloud enterprise application monitoring here
http://www.utilitystatus.com. This tool provides actual diagnostics for your applications located in the cloud.

CAM Solutions mission is to provide Monitoring-as-a-Service(TM) to Production/ QA and Developers in the Cloud on an as needed basis with focus to minimize the cost of ownership. Basically, only pay for what you use and still get the deep-dive application monitoring functionality.

Hope this helps.

Best Regards,

Interesting podcast. I think the parts about more monitoring and actual problem determination is something that helps. I look forward to personalized monitoring based on actual EC2 customer application data rather than an aggregated cloudstatus. Hyperic, nice start.

Just my 2 cents.
