Biggest Cloudies Disappointment

By John | March 11, 2011

When I first created the “Cloudies” awards two years ago it was supposed to be a joke with a touch of insight. I noticed that a lot of people got a kick out of it so the following year I tried a little harder to be more serious; however, still keeping the “fun” part. Last year Dave Nielsen asked me if we could do the 2010 Cloudies as part of Cloudcamp.com and I thought it was a great idea. I gave him my list of categories and early this week he put up the voting site. In previous years I picked the nominations and winners, and if there were disappointed people I took the heat. More to the point, I meant the specific category of “Biggest Cloud Disappointment” to be fun with again a touch of insight. Hell, IBM and Microsoft are big kids and they can $afford$ to take the heat. This year the category already seems to have become a little mean spirited. I am also a little disappointed in the “gaming” that is going on but I am not naive enough to think that can be controlled. However, even though I have agreed to shift the “2010 Cloudies” from an autocratic system to a democratic process, I have asked Dave to please pull the “Biggest Disappointment” category. If there are any complaints please feel free to throw the heat my way…
