Top Ten – Things I Like and Dislike about Canada

By John | March 4, 2008

I am in Ottawa this week and I decided to do a top 10 things I like and dislike about Canada.

  1. I love Tim Horton’s coffee.
  2. I don’t like Time Horton’s doughnuts.
  3. I love “Bloody Caesar’s”.
  4. I am pretty sure I don’t like Curling. However, I should catch a match. Do you call it a match?
  5. I love that McDonald’s offers vinegar with French fries.
  6. I don’t like TV stations that start with “C” and I am not a big fan of Canadian television in general. However, not as bad as England (sorry guys).
  7. I love the fact that there is an Irish pub on almost every corner.
  8. Ice, snow, and cold- need I say more.
  9. I like the people, they are very friendly.
  10. I don’t like that half of the people speak French. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t dislike people who speak French, I just feel guilty that I forgot all the French I learned in high school.

Care to expand on the English TV dig?

Opps did I say English TV. I meant Belgium…

No it was all in fun. I grew up as an American TV junkie and usually when I travel to other countries the available TV stations drive me nuts. I am sure it has more to do with familiarity than anything else. When I channel surf in UK I am not familiar with any of the shows.

Sorry if I offened anyone :)

I’m not offended…there are some great shows coming out of the US and always have. Bilko was 30 years ahead of its time.

BBC2 is the best channel I’ve ever watched. There are shows on there you just don’t get anywhere else. Channel 4 is another goodie. One of my faves is a program where they do an archaeological dig on a site in three days…great stuff. Haven’t seen anything like that anywhere else.

I can tell you why Tim Hortons Donuts suck ass. About 4 years ago someone complained that the donuts were never the same size but the price was the same. (fuckin loser I know).. so instead of making them fresh now in the back of the shop they are pre-made in a factory and then frozen and heated at the location in which they are served… and it really chaps my ass.

Wow what kind of loser would complain about the size of donuts…
