A Beta with 700k Users!

By John | October 16, 2007

The world isn’t flat; it’s tilted. At BarcampAtlanta last weekend, I heard about another virtual world called Kaneva. Kaneva is the brain child of Christopher Klaus, founder of ISS, which was sold to IBM for $1.3 billion last year. Kaneva.com boasts of a user base numbering almost 700,000, and it’s still in beta. What is really interesting about Kaneva’s virtual world is that it looks like it is aligned with IBM using specific IBM System x3650 servers. I don’t claim to be an expert in metaverse ecosystems, but I do know that real estate = servers. That means the guys with the best managed “virtual” server racks will win.
