Just what we need. Yet another operating system maintained by a bunch of cowboys around the world. NOT!

IBM’s operating systems (at least in my opinion) are way better than Linux in oh so many ways, and if IBM released the code to the world, would the OS quality fall to a lower standard like Linux as a result? Who knows maybe some of the good IBM coding would migrate into Linux.

My gut feeling is that I wouldn’t want the unwashed masses hacking on a golden egg. But that’s just my $0.02

Up until several years ago, most ATM’s ran OS/2 2.11 or some variant. It was so stable they didn’t mess with it unless they had too.

And if you miss REXX, Object REXX is still available.

Oh man I loved Rexx. I used to make these really cool multi-dimensional link-listed arrays out of stem variables. Don’t get me wrong that OS rocked and was way ahead of it time.
