Jason,

Thanks for the link. I think I signed up for one of these $99'rs and IBM never contacted me back (another sign of vapor). Anyway, I will give it another whirl and blog about it.

I spoke withIBM sales the other day to get a quote for hosting for UtilityStatus customers on the IBM bluecloud. Here is the link the sales team referred me to.
http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/deepcomputing/cod/

Longer commitments than EC2 although for production AIX virtualization is worth it compared to Zen, IMHO.

    * Dynamic: hourly committment of 16 nodes or more, 8-10 hours per day, 5 days a week for after hours trading or end of day runs.
    * Variable: short-term commitments from a few processors for 1 week to 100's of processors for 1 or more weeks.
    * Dedicated: 1 to 3 year commitments for 32 or more processors.

So what you are saying IBM Blue cloud is a private cloud.... Not .... Let's be clear. IBM Blue Cloud is a re-branded version of the infrastructure solution they have been selling for years (e.g., AIX, DB2, and Tivoli). To be even clearer, Tivoli Provisioning Manager is a weak option in the private cloud space against the likes of 3Tera and Cassatt. Furthermore, Blue Cloud is not an internal offering only (see iTricity).

However, if you know someone who can brief me to correct my understanding of this offer I am all ears.

Thanks

Blue Cloud is an internal cloud offering; i.e. IBM builds a cloud for you in your datacenter and then you use it. It's not intended to compete with Amazon/Google/Microsoft's retail clouds.
