Is Jim Whitehurst a Lou Gerstner?

By John | February 15, 2008

In a recent Q&A with Jim Whitehurst, the Red Hat CEO and President, he compares himself to IBM’s legendary Lou Gerstner, former IBM CEO. IMHO, those are some mighty big shoes to fill. Jim Collins’s book, Good to Great, probably does the best job describing Gerstner’s leadership. Collins describes Gerstner as a Level 5 leader. Gerstner, single handedly saved IBM, and he set the framework for IBM’s continued success. All I can say to you, Jim, is good luck and Vaya con Dios.
