Duh… Know Theyself

No sooner did I post the “Look Ma no Nines” that I realized that this blog has been on EC2 for over a month. We don’t need no stinking Nagios :) .

    A server’s uptime is not the same as its availability. My nagios is actually monitoring how available the system is. Consider if Amazon’s network isn’t reliable or if the host operating system hangs for 30 seconds while it’s swapping My uptime won’t go down, but I won’t be available.

    Gary,

    At the end of my post I used what is called an emoicon. An emoticon is a symbol or combination of symbols used to convey emotional content in written or message form. Some examples of text-based emoticons include: :) :( ;)

    Therefore I was only joking when I said “We don’t need no stinking Nagios :) ”
