The OpenNMS iPhone App
By John | August 28, 2009
Today we had our first IT Management Geeks Marietta chapter meeting #itmgemac. Jeff Gehlbach @jgehlbach gave us a sneak peek at the new OpenNMS iPhone App. I have never been a huge fan of phone based IT management tools; however this one seemed pretty interesting.
The outages screen shows all of the node issues. If you select one of the nodes it gives you a very nice and easy to read outages details for that node. It also has an alarms interface where you can acknowledge or close alarms. Very cool…
Gerry Brown (a.k.a @woverdean) the hardest working Tivoli man in Atlanta also showed up.
I’m talking IT management at it’s best folks…
Maybe next week we will get a few more geeks…

Is ITMGEMAC weekly now? Wow!
Just to clarify, the iPhone app does not itself act as a management tool. It’s a way to see from an iPhone the data that an OpenNMS server makes available from the management and functions that it’s performing.
