- Parallels to make switching to the Mac easier, safe and painless | VentureBeat – In the Windows vs. Mac war, we are at a crossroads. Apple is launching its Snow Leopard version of the Mac operating system on Friday at the low price of $29. Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system will launch in October with the primary aim of fixing the problems created by Windows Vista.

In June Xen reached version 3.4 introducing out-of-the-box support for Hyper-V and a series of enhancements that will make the platform a good client hypervisor.

- How Google Manages Data Across Data Centers « Data Center Knowledge – How does Google manage data across the many data centers the company operates? At the Google i/o Developer Conference in May, Google’s Ryan Barrett discusses “multihoming” across multiple data center locations with large scale storage systems. Barrett’s presentation examines different approaches to multi-homing, with a particular focus on how Google engineers the App Engine datastore. This video runs about 1 hour. - Rackspace Launches Cloud Tools Ecosystem « Data Center Knowledge – Rackspace Hosting wants to make using the cloud easy for its users, and is enlisting partners in its effort. This morning the company rolled out Cloud Tools, a portal to showcase partner solutions that offer applications and services built atop The Rackspace Cloud, its cloud computing suite.
- NEW: Immutable Service Container Podcast : Glenn Brunette’s Security Weblog – Things have certainly been busy around here lately! Over the last two months, we have announced the Immutable Service Container project, published an OpenSolaris-based ISC Construction Kit (Preview) and a corresponding pre-configured OVF image, shared a number of network architecture and autonomic security models leveraging the ISC concept, and even published an ISC Technical Overview presentation. Well, as it turns out, we are not done yet!
