By John | September 10, 2009
These are my links for September 9th from 14:47 to 20:32:
- Agile Testing: Bootstrapping EC2 images as Puppet clients – I've been looking at Puppet lately as an alternative to slack for automated deployment and configuration management. I can't say I love it, but I think it's good enough that it warrants banging your head against the wall repeatedly until you learn how to use it.
- Google App Engine Blog: App Engine SDK 1.2.5 released for Python and Java, now with XMPP support – Today we are releasing version 1.2.5 of the App Engine SDK for both Python and Java, our first simultaneous release across both runtimes. We're excited about the great new functionality in this release … including XMPP!
- Java Management Extension (JMX) FAQ – JMX is essentially a Java technology that offers tools for managing and monitoring applications, systems, objects, devices and service oriented networks. The resources in JMX are represented by objects called MBeans for Managed Beans. Classes in the API can be dynamically loaded and instantiated. It adjoins a Java Dynamic Management Kit for managing and monitoring applications.
- Amazon Web Services Blog: AWS Access Credential Rotation – Our new Access Credential Rotation feature makes it easier for you to switch (or rotate) from one set of credentials to another to make your cloud assets even more secure. Using the "Security Credentials" page on the AWS Portal, you can request a new access credential while leaving the old one active and valid. Later, after you have distributed the new credential to all of your applications, you can deactivate and then (when you are sure that everything is working properly) delete the old credential. You can have up to two credentials of each type (Access Key ID and X.509 certificate).
- Livemocha Case Study: Amazon Web Services – Livemocha is an online language learning site with free courses in over 25 languages and 3 million users worldwide. Livemocha has created an interactive community where people from all over the world can engage and practice with native speakers, resulting in a natural, effective way to learn a foreign language.
- 2 In 3 IT Managers Have Cloud Funding — Cloud Computing — InformationWeek – IT managers disagree on a definition of cloud computing, but they agree that it's either already in their budgets or soon will be. And they expect to share responsibility for cloud computing with application developers and business stakeholders.
