It is only by dealing honestly and fairly in all things that real success is attainable.

A while back, I was doing some Tivoli consulting work at Meadwestveco Corporation in Dayton Ohio. Every morning I would have to wait to get escorted up stairs. There was a plaque on the wall that read “It is only by dealing honestly and fairly in all things that real success is attainable”. It was a quote from the founder’s son George Mead. I am always a sucker for a good quote. This one really stuck with me. A few weeks later, I decided to put this quote on the bottom of all my emails. About a month after the engagement one of the Tivoli guys from Meadwestvaco asked me where I get the quote from. The ironic thing is that this person has been an employee of Mead for as long as that plaque has been hanging in his building’s lobby.
