You Might be a Twidiot If …

By John | February 5, 2009

  1. You have never changed your avatar on twitter.

  2. You do not have a BIO on your twitter page.

  3. You do not include a link to some site that describes yourself.

  4. You have protected your updates.

You might feel like an real idiot, if you tweet flight details and where you are headed, your updates are not protected and someone comes around and helps them self to your stuff, or more importantly your family while you are away tweeting about the great locations you are visiting… @cathcam on twitter, my updates are protected.

You know I know you are not an idiot. That is why I specifically said “Might”. My issues is with people who are not willing to join in on the conversation. In other words they might seem interesting but they will not let you follow them without their approval. To me the great thing about twitter is the wide open conversation. However, to each his own and be assured I do not consider you an idiot under any circumstances (“might”).

I’m right with your first three, perhaps change four to “you follow but do no tweet”.

I’ve had problems with online stalkers, and I know two other people who have two, both here in Austin. So while I know that protected updates isn’t street cool, for some of us, its just a sensible precaution.
