Yuk, Another Christmas Party Tonight.

By John | December 14, 2007

I am a really boring dude, trust me. Unless you want to talk about Guitar Collections, The Big Lebowski, Enterprise Systems Management, or Roman history, I really don’t have a lot to say. Five minutes after we move into a new neighborhood, my wife will have 100 friends. Five years when we leave, I usually have about .05 friends in the neighborhood. My wife says that I don’t try, but I hate golf, and most neighborhood party conversations start from there and then go down hill fast. So tonight, I am trying to come up with excuses to get out of going to a neighborhood Christmas party, but my stock “I don’t feel well” has already been allocated over the past few weeks. The thing is that I don’t even want to try to be un-boring. I hate that uncomfortable feeling where someone asks you what you do for a living and you think for a second that he might be interested and then someone else walks ups and says, “Hey, Joe, how did you do Saturday?” I can sit me down with Cote’, Doug McClure, Whurley, or Mark Hinkle and talk for hours. The funny thing is they actual listen. So, while contemplating my strategy for trying to snag a conformable single couch seat tonight to sit alone, I think that this time things might be different. I have added two new topics into my un-boring lexicon, Virtual Worlds and CMS systems. Who knows, maybe I will get “lucky” tonight and actually move from the who was that short stubby guy to “yeah you know the guy who’s name starts with “J”.
