One Laptop Per Child

A am sure you have heard this story before but just in case you have not here goes. There are 7 shopping days left for you to give some poverty stricken child a great gift for Christmas and also make a little one in your own family happy as well. Nicholas Negroponte, director of the media lab at MIT is trying to change the world by trying to get a low cost laptop to every child on the planet. Negroponte has developed a low cost Linux based computer called the XO. To date the XO has not been available to the general consumer market, however for the last week and one week remaining anyone can purchase a “Give 1 Get 1″ for $399. Due to a soft spot that I have for “save the world” kind folks two children somewhere Afghanistan, Cambodia, Haiti, or Rwanda will get two XO’s as well as two spoiled boys in Acworth Georgia.
