Phony PHD’s - Wasup
By John | March 14, 2008
I could possibly see why someone would get a fake degree, but a phony PHD, that’s really pushing it. In the end, why bother going to the trouble and why not just lie about the whole thing in the first place. A while back I was doing some research on diploma mills and phony degrees, and I came across a beauty. Belford University is listed as an accredited institution where you can get a degree in 7 days. In fact, according to Wikipedia, Belford’s accreditation is not recognized by the US Dept of Education. The university’s address is supposedly a post office box in Humble Texas.
If you want a college degree but don’t have any time for that pesky studying foolishness, Belford is the place for you. They even run special packages for different degrees. Their prices range from $249 to $529 for singletons (i.e., high school (HS), BA, MA or PHD). A high school diploma runs about $239 whereas a PHD is $529. You can even get a combo pack of HS/BA/MA for $733, or if you want to shoot the works, you can go for the BA/MA/PHD for $1034.00. I was a little disappointed that they didn’t have the Full Monty combo HS/BA/MA/PHD. However, if you go with the one-off PHD for $549 combined with the HS/BA/MA combo, you can actually save a buck. It appears that the order in which you get your degree(s) doesn’t really matter. I am pretty sure if you are a little strapped for cash, you could go with the BA/MA/PHD package. Then after you score that great new job and can afford it, go back and get your HS diploma for $249. Belford seems very flexible as well and very willing to work with you. In fact, you have two options for getting your degree. You can take an online test for the combined BA/MA/PHD in one hour (man) . If tests are not your bag you can alternatively send in a life experiences form however if you are in a hurry this might take a few days. Either way, you should be able to have your degree(s) in 7 days. Their simple model is described as follows:
- No Admissions
- No Attendance
- No Hassle
The degrees are also high quality and they come directly drop shipped free of charge from the United Arab Emirates. Also the degree’s come with compete transcripts and grades. Imagine that, getting grades for every class with out taking any tests. Oh, here’s the best part, standard prices include a 3.5 GPA; however, for an additional $75 you can get a 4.0. In an enterprise/web 2.0 world, why hasn’t Harvard and Yale figured this model out. Bedford offers a 100% money back guarantee. Harvard or Yale don’t offer that kind of guarantee. The Belford model just seems so much more efficient and turn-key then the stodgy brick and mortar universities.

I know a guy with a PHD from one of those places. Which is .. terribly unfortunate.
He’s a bright guy, very personable, sharp at his trade. He’d be an asset anywhere.
I can’t suggest he hire on at my employer - they research and they’ll find him out. Then what does that make me look like? I can’t associate professionally with him, same reason.
